QUEEN ESTHER AND MARY LIZ CONFERENCE

august is women's month in South Africa, and I'm glad to say that we had fun. this month was definitely amazing for me. I'm glad there are people out there who care enough to empower and equip young women of south Africa. a nation without women is a dead nation.
on the 25th of august we had a QUEEN ESTHER AND MARY LIZ CONFERENCE, it was held at the university of Johannesburg doorfontein campus. we were discussing issues like women in ministry, career, relationships and beauty. the colours to wear were blue, gold, purple and scarlet, but you know African people, they wear what ever they feel good in, its almost like a norm not to follow the rules. i was wearing a leopard print top, and i feel like i need to explain my self to you guys, because Ive been saying I'm tired of people wearing leopard print. you see, I'm all for themes and stuff, i like that. i wanted to stick to the rules unlike other people. so i looked for such colours in my wardrobe, only to find i have blue, and the closest colour to gold is mustered and brown. hence I'm wearing a leopard print top, and accessorised with Gold jewels. i must say, i look really good.
i was a bit disappointed with what some of the girls chose to wear, especially the colour blocking, it really gets to me. but who am i to judge, here's what women of honour, courage, faith and strength were wearing.

when it was all said and done, after a long day of fun.... you know youre tired, youre on flats no jewels anymore, you even wearing shades in the house... then you know all you want is your bed.

FUNKY BOOTS

Every body laughed at my baby when i took her home. i remember when i bought them people thought theres something wrong with me, that I'm taking this whole fashion thing over the hills. they laughed so hard that i even wanted to take them back and get something a little decent. somehow i just decided not to. you see, i have a voice inside of me that tells to what to and what not to buy, i trust this little voice. people called my baby with nasty names, but when i rocked them on campus, people couldn't believe some one could ever create something this wonderful, i get compliments all the time when i wear them. I've inspired people to go get them. I'm glad its not every body who is brave enough to rock this.
don't tell me you don't see what i see. this is what i call fashion. this is how i used to rock them, but now i just wear them with jeans, I'm over the whole short skirts kind of a look.

a year later, i still find the attractive.

i love my shoes, don't you?

SPRING 2012

its finally here, spring has finally arrived.
it is said that we don't live in a cold country, of coarse through out winter we saw a lot of mini skirts with pantyhose. i couldn't wait for spring to finally kick in, and now that its here, i don't think i like it anymore, i had a horrible day today in Johannesburg, it was so hot... but you know what i like about this season? the fashion kills me. winter limits a lot of us, we have to wear heavy jerseys to be warm, heavy boots as well... its so sick. I'm excited about this spring, even though i think its hotter than usual but i think ill make it worth a while. you know something about this hot seasons is that you tend to take advantage of them, i now know we'll be seeing a lot of thighs and stomach outs. skinny girls like showing off, i know i used to do it a lot. but i guess there comes a time when you cant handle looking at your self almost half naked, i mean I'm 21 years old, i sometimes feel like I'm growing too fast. the good thing about my self is that i don't allow my self to gain a lot of weight, if you know you were a couch potato during winter, now its time to work out and get in shape again., though i think you could have started a long time ago.
however, you know when it comes to spring i love NASTY GAL. so i went over to their site to look at what they have.
its so strange because what i see here, is what i saw during winter. talking about the pleasures of staying in a not so cold country. high waist pants or skirts will never go out of fashion, that i know. wether short or long, high waist is here to stay. theres one thing that im glad about, animal print or should i say leapord print is finally out. though i still love the shoes, but i think a lot of people got the point i was trying to make a couple of months back.
hot or cold, ankle boots are my thing, i wear them even wen its super hot. they add a nice feel to an outfit.

the shades are in. i saw them in some shop in jozi and i couldnt take my eyes off them. fortunately i didnt buy them. im saying fortunately because, now i see a lot of people wearing them, both guys and dolls. others just dont get the point of being vintage and differing from the crowd they just mess the fashion sense for all of us. i now know im never going to buy them because every one else has decided to get them too. i dont like common things, i want people to ask me were i got my shades than to say, i saw this shades down town. i love them though, they took my attention in the store because they are cool.

i got all this pictures on the look book of NASTY GAL.

TRUE BEAUTY (Karabo)

you cannot tell me it gets better than this. this is what i Mapule Malope call true beauty.
we have always looked up to American girls for beauty, but it is girls like Karabo who have the ability to change that and embrace their true African beauty. i must say, her creator did a really good job. even though at times she might wear a weave, but she doesn't relax her hair, and she is the braids kind of a girl. i like that about her. i think she can teach a lot of African girls a little something something.

a lot of girls especially in South Africa want to look like Beyonce, or Rihanna... how about our African girls start admiring ladies like Lira. i know i could learn a thing or two from them.

African girls are gorgeous.

maybe i should make a seminar for African girls and invite Krabs as a guest speaker, i know that's a good idea.
you know i have blogged about the doek, i love love love them. this is the kind of fashion African girls should embrace, this defines us and we should be proud of it.
Ive always liked braids, thing about them is that they reap my hair off. my hair is messed up because of braiding, but if you have rich hair i don't see a reason why you should not braid your hair, but i would not advice you to do it all the time as the ultimate hair style.
i can go on the whole day talking about what  she is doing right that other girls should be copying from her. not copying per SE but taking tips. we have blogs so that we can correct our fashion flaws,. I'm not perfect and neither is she, we just make an effort and care enough to look good. i mean i care to tell you things you need to know about fashion. now you see the kind of people i associate my self with.

what i think is important for black girls is to embrace what makes us who we are. im not saying, weave and braids define us, but let us differ from any other race and embrace our natural look, our curly hair, its who we are. braid were made for us let us wear them with pride. im glad to see quite a few girls doing that these days.

if you're not learning from this girl, you'll probably never learn.
