SPRING 2012

its finally here, spring has finally arrived.
it is said that we don't live in a cold country, of coarse through out winter we saw a lot of mini skirts with pantyhose. i couldn't wait for spring to finally kick in, and now that its here, i don't think i like it anymore, i had a horrible day today in Johannesburg, it was so hot... but you know what i like about this season? the fashion kills me. winter limits a lot of us, we have to wear heavy jerseys to be warm, heavy boots as well... its so sick. I'm excited about this spring, even though i think its hotter than usual but i think ill make it worth a while. you know something about this hot seasons is that you tend to take advantage of them, i now know we'll be seeing a lot of thighs and stomach outs. skinny girls like showing off, i know i used to do it a lot. but i guess there comes a time when you cant handle looking at your self almost half naked, i mean I'm 21 years old, i sometimes feel like I'm growing too fast. the good thing about my self is that i don't allow my self to gain a lot of weight, if you know you were a couch potato during winter, now its time to work out and get in shape again., though i think you could have started a long time ago.
however, you know when it comes to spring i love NASTY GAL. so i went over to their site to look at what they have.
its so strange because what i see here, is what i saw during winter. talking about the pleasures of staying in a not so cold country. high waist pants or skirts will never go out of fashion, that i know. wether short or long, high waist is here to stay. theres one thing that im glad about, animal print or should i say leapord print is finally out. though i still love the shoes, but i think a lot of people got the point i was trying to make a couple of months back.
hot or cold, ankle boots are my thing, i wear them even wen its super hot. they add a nice feel to an outfit.

the shades are in. i saw them in some shop in jozi and i couldnt take my eyes off them. fortunately i didnt buy them. im saying fortunately because, now i see a lot of people wearing them, both guys and dolls. others just dont get the point of being vintage and differing from the crowd they just mess the fashion sense for all of us. i now know im never going to buy them because every one else has decided to get them too. i dont like common things, i want people to ask me were i got my shades than to say, i saw this shades down town. i love them though, they took my attention in the store because they are cool.

i got all this pictures on the look book of NASTY GAL.

TRUE BEAUTY (Karabo)

you cannot tell me it gets better than this. this is what i Mapule Malope call true beauty.
we have always looked up to American girls for beauty, but it is girls like Karabo who have the ability to change that and embrace their true African beauty. i must say, her creator did a really good job. even though at times she might wear a weave, but she doesn't relax her hair, and she is the braids kind of a girl. i like that about her. i think she can teach a lot of African girls a little something something.

a lot of girls especially in South Africa want to look like Beyonce, or Rihanna... how about our African girls start admiring ladies like Lira. i know i could learn a thing or two from them.

African girls are gorgeous.

maybe i should make a seminar for African girls and invite Krabs as a guest speaker, i know that's a good idea.
you know i have blogged about the doek, i love love love them. this is the kind of fashion African girls should embrace, this defines us and we should be proud of it.
Ive always liked braids, thing about them is that they reap my hair off. my hair is messed up because of braiding, but if you have rich hair i don't see a reason why you should not braid your hair, but i would not advice you to do it all the time as the ultimate hair style.
i can go on the whole day talking about what  she is doing right that other girls should be copying from her. not copying per SE but taking tips. we have blogs so that we can correct our fashion flaws,. I'm not perfect and neither is she, we just make an effort and care enough to look good. i mean i care to tell you things you need to know about fashion. now you see the kind of people i associate my self with.

what i think is important for black girls is to embrace what makes us who we are. im not saying, weave and braids define us, but let us differ from any other race and embrace our natural look, our curly hair, its who we are. braid were made for us let us wear them with pride. im glad to see quite a few girls doing that these days.

if you're not learning from this girl, you'll probably never learn.

DRESSES

i love this young lady. her name is karabo Dlamini. i can give you a million and one reasons as to why i love her so much. not only is she beautiful, shes is very kind too.
its funny how we met, even though we met in a very professional kind of way, we managed to keep our relationship going even in personal terms. we met through an agency called DJs model agency... we are both photographic models, shes my little pumpkin.
that's not important though, the issue here is her Cinderella dresses, i must say though, i love them. she knows how to dress for her body, and she does it well.
shes one of the most beautiful ladies in south Africa, i could call her a girl because she is still in high school doing her matric. shes has a strong drive for success, especially when it comes to pageants. I'm very sure that with the spirit she has, she will soon become miss south Africa. we need beauties such as these to represent us abroad.
as i was saying, her dresses.... some one must have told her she looks good in yellow, most of her dresses are yellow.
i will soon post pictures of her in casual clothes.
this is just an introduction of who she is....

LONG SKIRTS ARE SO IN

for some reason i adore skirts, especially long high waist skirts. i like them on people though, not me. i just dont feel comfortable in skirts that go all the way below my knees. i don't wear bum shorts either. i just want medium long. it really isn't about me, have you seen how long skirts have flooded the fashion industry. I'm not complaining. they've been here for quite a while, but i just turned a blind eye because i didn't think id love them as much as i do now. you'd wanna say I'm a bit late, but i know i rock an outfit way differently than any other  typical south African girl. if you know how to rock an outfit, you know you rock my world. i think this trend is going to stick around for a while, and i love it. id love to see more women rocking this look, especially with a denim shirt, and a gold necklace, and a nice portable funky bag.
colour is my thing, I'm just not a big fan of colour blocking, people just over do it. fashion is seasonal, people have got to know when to let go of something. i love the orange and white look though, its nothing new, but its very refreshing, and really takes away the trauma of colour blocking. I'm still shocked that there are people who still colour block, but i have got to admit, some people know how to make you turn with them as they pass... but i have never really been a fan of it.
i like how this lady Incorporated the look, is simple and yet not so simple. the look is not busy, and that is quite nice, i love the belt and the necklace.

what i love about this look is how its so simple and yet stylish. simple in a sense that its just a skirt and a top, but its stylish because its not the kind of skirt anyone would go for, i know i would.
look at how long the skirt is, i love it. the whole look is just too amazing. the jacket, the bag, belt, and necklace just finish the look for me. the good thing about it is that, its not just a look for one season. you can wear this look without the jacket in spring or summer, and still look ravishing. it is spring in south Africa after all.

maybe i should start buying long skirts, they look good on people, they surely can look good on me too. if you haven't tried this look, i don't know where you've been, i know Ive been around.

GLAMOUR GIRL, ME!

The good thing about me is that I'm not just all talk, i walk the walk and definitely talk the talk. in as much as i love talking about other people and admiring their sense of style, i go out of my way to look good too. ordinary is an insult to me, though sometimes we have to be simple (I'm not sure if i like that).
Don't get me wrong, sometimes i wear jeans and shirts with pumps, but i don't feel as good as when i went all out with my look. people have to give me compliments atleast on one item I'm wearing. the shoes I'm wearing in the picture above grab all the attention, they are hot and not as expensive as they look. the whole look is less than R700, believe it or not. you can look like a million dollars with the cheapest outfit ever.
The heels are only R250 at POP HIP BOUTIQUE, the leggings are R65.00, the jacket is R130.00 and the shirt is R75.00 at MR PRICE.
Moving on to the accessories, the ring is R20.00, bracelet is R30.00, and the earrings are clipons R5.00.
The thing about a lot of people is that, the want the most expensive clothes to look like a million bucks, and really that's not always the case. i have dedicated my self into finding the most affordable looks for my readers, and believe me, people think that i spend a lot of money on my outfits and i spend just a few rands.
i always get compliments with this jacket, i don't even remember where i bought it, but i remember the ridiculous price i had to pay for it (R90.00).

why pay a lot of cash when you can find the same things with quality ofcorse, at a much lesser price? I'm still a student, may it makes sense to want to find the most affordable and yet gorgeous outfit.

if you need advice on how to find affordable clothes, don't hesitate to email me, and to my readers who have been emailing me for advice.... thanks guys for being loyal readers and taking your time to read my blog. *much appreciated*

you know when you go shopping with friends, you get to discover that a lot of things you take for granted are usually the best. i always looked at the old fashion mags, i call them ancestor mags, they've been here for a while, and honestly... they are growing out of me or I'm growing out of them, either way I'm falling out of love with them. recently i went shopping with my best friends, and one of them picked up a fashion magazine in one of the stores, just to browse through, GRAZIA MAGAZINE. I'm all for winter and being warm in winter, but i have a problem with people who are so scared of the cold that they end up wearing, 5 tshirts, two pants, 5 leggings, every outfit they have in their closet, all in the quest of being warm. THAT'S DISASTROUS.  you can be warm in a few clothes, you know what the trick is? buy warm clothes. i went on a holiday in mpumalanga, just to relax and eat the bones of the mind, LOL. i saw the most horrific fashion sense there, i see it in Johannesburg too.... i guess these people are not exposed to blogs, the TV, magazines etc. and i don't really expect everyone to be fashion literate, but i do expect people to read and at least care enough to look good.

if theres one thing Ive learned, is to buy clothes that will look good and warm in winter, but the same clothes should be wearable in spring or summer too. I'm all for skirts and dresses this winter, wear them with warm leggings or stalkings, a warm cropped jacket, ankle boots preferably metallic.
talking about metallic, almost every one is in to it.... i love it too, i think its refreshing and out of the ordinary, be it shoes, a jacket, or pants.... they all work for me. u just have to know how to execute an awesome look. i always say, make a statement where ever you are..... metallic might work for you. METALLIC IS BOLD....... here are a couple of ideas on how you can work it out:

your life might just change if you knew how to dress well.
